Nang’s garden – selected works
This series of drawings are a collection of unfinished conversation. One between myself and ‘Nang’ (my grandma). A series of ideas and plans for a piece of land in her garden, made whilst we sat together one afternoon last year. This is one in a series of over 80. Nang passed away in June 2023 these drawings have become a shrine, a kind of pilgrimage to our last conversations about the garden. The paper holds her dreams and is now preserved in a timeless state. A garden that will remain suspended in a perfect ideal of what might have been. These drawings have become the embodiment of my love for her. The gardener digs in another time … without past or future, beginning or end.
Nang’s rose garden received Special Commendation in the Trinity Buoy Working Drawing Prize 2023
